We're using a Yeti for our show and I'm well aware a lot of people hate the living shit out of it (the Yeti, not our podcast), but with proper acoustic treatment (futons and moving blankets) and post-processing with RX, we sound pretty frikkin' darn good. I think every podcaster should own a copy of RX. Worse comes to worst, you can use its Spectral Repair module and get rid of noises manually. You can get rid of random clicks and such with iZotope RX too. Sorry for all that, just trying to help.have you tried unplugging and plugging it back in?Ī downward expander can get rid of a lot of the little background noises the Yeti picks up. I don't want to insult you, but is your gain set right? Are you the proper distance from the mic? Here's the worst insult: Do you have it in the right mode? Play around with all those and see if you can minimize the movement and background noises.

So, I guess my question would simply be: for those of you who upgraded, did you find the upgrade to be worth it? Or do you think I'd be better off keeping the yeti but upgrading the equipment (better shock mount, stand, acoustics in the room)? Love to hear some thoughts! I essentially have to record still as a statue unless I want that mic to pick up a rogue shuffle, even with a sound gate!) The benefit of the Yeti is that it's simple, but it does have its drawbacks (it picks up every. but this has me wondering if an investment down the road into a better mic would actually be worth it? I am a stickler for sound quality as it's what makes or breaks a podcast for me personally, so I like to hold myself to the standards to which I hold others, and as my podcast slowly grows I'm considering the investment.

Now, I am a professional musician so I have Logic and an interface with ample experience to use them, mic placement, etc. I've been using a blue yeti the whole time I've been podcasting, and just this week bought a stand, shock mount and foam backing to reduce echo and the difference it's made has been subtle but noticeable.
